Meet the Healing Hedgehog
He stands on his hind feet in the middle of a bright watercolor burst of orange, red and gold, spines fanned out in every direction like a crown he did not ask for. He has on a faded denim jacket with the collar up and a plain white top underneath, the outfit of someone who is effortlessly cool and knows it. His eyes are bright, his grin is enormous, and he is holding a tall glass of beer in each tiny paw. One of those glasses is for you. He is not taking no for an answer.
Why he is called the healer
There is no stethoscope here and no white coat. This hedgehog's medicine is the kind you get at the corner table after a rough day, when a friend slides over a cold one and tells you to start from the beginning. He is the remedy for bad meetings, flat tires and weeks that feel like they lasted a month. Quills out to the world, arms wide open to his people. Prickly is only the packaging.
For the one who shows up with the second glass
Think of the person who texts back within a minute when you say you had a day. The one who arrives at your door with snacks before you even finish explaining, or remembers the name of your dog, your boss and your favorite song. Maybe they come across a little gruff at first, a little guarded, a little spiky. Then you get to know them and discover they are the softest heart in the room. That is a hedgehog, through and through. Give them this one and they will know exactly what you mean. And next time you have a bad week, do not be surprised when they show up holding two glasses.
