Yoga is about breath, balance and finding peace in the present moment. Our shark has read the brochure and is confident he has mastered all of it in a single afternoon. The Yoga collection belongs to one very relaxed great white who has invented his own practice, and it involves noticeably more beer than the usual class.
His signature pose
He stands tall on his tail in the middle of a small, round pool of bright blue water, which he is treating as his mat. He is wearing a pair of orange board shorts, fins loose at his sides, chest out, grin wide open and showing every tooth in the most welcoming way possible. There is no stretch, no twist and no downward anything. He calls it standing mountain, and he will not be taking questions about that.
The props
Every yoga class has props. Other studios hand out blocks and straps. This shark brought two beers. One mug is raised in his fin, foam bubbling happily over the edge, and a tall pint glass waits on the edge of his little pool for the cooldown. Water droplets float around him like he just finished a very demanding session of breathing. The colors are cool and bright, ocean blue and white with a pop of orange, set against a dark background so the whole scene glows.
The philosophy
Every yoga class has one student who shows up in the wrong outfit, skips half the poses, and still leaves looking like the calmest person in the building. That is this shark. He has achieved inner peace mostly by refusing to take any of it too seriously, which may be the most advanced move of all.
For the one who never misses Sunday flow
This is for the studio regular with a mat bag permanently in the car, the friend who tried hot yoga once and now talks about it constantly, the partner who stretches in front of the television every night, and the person who signed up for beer yoga purely out of curiosity and stayed for the beer. Picture them rolling out a mat, standing perfectly still, and calling it a pose with total confidence. Breathe in, breathe out, and let the shark lead the cooldown.
