Every backyard has a pit master, the one who claims the grill the moment the cover comes off and does not give up the spatula until the last guest goes home. The Pit Master collection belongs to the most dedicated grill boss of them all, a great white who swam out of the ocean, put on a chef's coat and started taking orders.
Chef's whites and a big grin
He stands on his tail in a crisp white chef's jacket with a double row of buttons, a white apron tied at the waist and a red towel tucked into it for good measure. His jaws are wide open in a huge, proud grin, every tooth on display, which is exactly the face every grill master makes when somebody asks if the burgers are ready. He has clearly been waiting all day for that question.
The house specialty
Held high on a plate in one fin is a towering cheeseburger, stacked with a toasty bun, melted cheese, lettuce and tomato, the kind of burger that makes a whole patio go quiet. Flames leap up behind him in orange and gold, curling around his shoulders like the grill got a little too excited, and a splash of ocean water swirls around his feet in case things get out of hand. Orange lettering above and below frames the whole scene against a dark background, so the fire and the fins really glow.
Why a shark runs the grill
Who better to judge a good bite than a shark? He has high standards, a strong appetite and zero fear of heat. He will absolutely insist on flipping everything himself and will absolutely tell you his secret seasoning is a family recipe. The ocean behind him suggests he may also be taking fish requests, though no one has been brave enough to ask.
For the one who guards the grill
This is for the neighbor who fires up the smoker at dawn and texts photos of the bark by noon, the dad who has opinions about charcoal versus gas and will share every one of them, the friend who hosts every cookout and never lets a guest leave hungry, and the grill rookie who just nailed a perfect burger for the first time. Picture them holding a plate out exactly like this, grinning with the same number of teeth. Somebody hand the chef a cold one. He has been standing by that fire all afternoon.
