Planning is great. Genuinely. Somebody should do it.
But have you noticed that nothing memorable has ever come out of a plan? Nobody tells a story at a barbecue that starts with "so we had a really solid plan."
The Two Types Of Guy
Type one checks the weather, reads the reviews, brings the right shoes, and has a lovely uneventful time.
Type two arrives with no shoes at all, commits fully to whatever is happening, and is somehow the reason everyone remembers that day.
Both types are needed. But only one of them ends up on a shirt.
Commitment Beats Competence More Often Than It Should
Here is a genuinely useful thing hidden inside all the beer jokes. Half the time, the guy who fully commits to doing something badly outperforms the guy who half-commits to doing it well.
Not because commitment is magic. Because hesitation is expensive. You lose the momentum, you lose the timing, and you lose the nerve.
Go all in on the wrong idea and you at least get a result. Go halfway on the right one and you get nothing plus a sore ankle.
How To Be Type Two Without The Ankle
You do not have to be reckless to have the energy. You just have to decide faster.
- Pick the thing in under ten seconds.
- Do not ask the group. The group will talk you out of it.
- Once you are in, be all the way in. Halfway is where the injuries live.
That is it. That is the entire philosophy of this store, and it fits on a shirt.
The Story Is The Whole Point
You will not remember the day you made the sensible call. You will remember the day you handed somebody your beer.
Plan less. Commit harder. Bring a witness.
