Right now the Fish collection is being guarded by a jellyfish, which is a bold move, since a jellyfish is technically not a fish at all. Nobody told him. Or somebody did, and he raised his mug and said I've Got This… Hold My Beer, which is exactly what that line is on his design for. Firefighting Jellyfish is the story of a creature with no bones, no brain and no hesitation whatsoever, and it turns out that last one is the only qualification that matters.
Helmet on, tentacles ready
He wears a proper firefighter helmet, pale blue with a bright red badge right on the front, perched on top of a round, glowing bell of a head. Two big dark eyes peek out underneath with the steady, unbothered look of someone who has been on a lot of calls. His tentacles curl down in shades of blue and violet, and a few of them are wrapped firmly around a golden mug of beer with a thick head of foam. The rest are free, presumably for holding the hose, the ladder, the axe and a snack at the same time.
Fire on one side, water on the other
Behind him, a column of orange and yellow flame leaps up, and he is not paying it the slightest bit of attention. That is the joke and also, frankly, the strategy. A jellyfish is mostly water already, so as far as he is concerned he showed up to the fire as the solution. The whole design is painted in loose watercolor, with blue and purple drips running off the tentacles like he just climbed out of the bay and went straight to work without drying off. It is bright and a little wild, which suits him.
For the one who shows up soaked and smiling
This design belongs to the firefighter who laughs louder than anybody at the station, the volunteer who keeps a pager on the nightstand, the lifeguard, the diver, the aquarium lover who could talk about jellyfish for an hour and has. It is for anybody whose friends describe them as calm in a crisis and slightly unpredictable the rest of the time. Picture the one who runs toward the smoke while everyone else is still finding their shoes, then insists afterward that it was no big deal. That is your jellyfish. Somewhere in the ocean, the actual fish are writing a very polite letter asking for their collection back, and he has decided to answer it after the next call.
