Bears are supposed to spend the cold months asleep in a cave. The bears in this collection heard about that plan and politely declined. They have hobbies to get to, uniforms to press and shifts to cover, and every single one of them is holding a cold drink while doing it. Nap later. Live now.
Too busy to sleep
The sporty ones keep the calendar full. Slider Bear, Bear Tricks and Bearon Wheels each cut a black silhouette against a glowing gold circle, one carving down a slope on skis, one lifting a dirt bike off the ground and one pedaling along on a bicycle, mug up every time. Bearly Pedaling takes a big brown bear down a forest trail on a mountain bike, bottle raised past the pines. And Panda Peddler proves the black and white branch of the family is just as restless, a giant panda on a blue bike rolling through a splash of fire and water with a beer held out in front.
Bears in dress uniform
Some bears prefer structure. Admiral Bear wears a peaked white cap and a navy jacket loaded with medals, and Officer Bear Grant stands tall in a red dress coat and gleaming white cap against a field of green and stars. Military Pride Bear Salute tips the brim of a wide campaign hat with a bottle in hand, and Brutus Bear Ranger keeps watch over the park in a ranger hat with a mug in each paw. These bears have clearly never missed an inspection.
Bears on call
The rest of them run toward trouble. Firefighter Burnout Bear stands in full turnout gear in front of roaring flames, a mug of beer foaming over like he just walked out of the smoke. Firefighter Bear Blaze wears the same fearless expression under his helmet, and the two HotShot bears drop into the backcountry under open parachutes. Doctor Bear Bob holds down the clinic in a white coat and a surgical mask, a beer in one paw and a look that says the waiting room can wait.
For the big teddy bear in your life
Every family has one. Big shoulders, soft heart, the first one up in the morning and the last one to leave the campfire. He grumbles about getting up early and then makes pancakes for everybody. He will carry your couch up the stairs, fix your fence, and then fall asleep in the recliner halfway through the game. Pick the bear who matches his job or his hobby, and let him pretend he does not love it. Somewhere, a cave is sitting empty, and not one of these bears misses it.
